Customs and Traditions

The Korca Region is distinguished for its culture, which will leave an unforgettable impression with you!

In general Albanians shake hands and hug each other when they meet. They inquire about health and family.

The most characteristic drink is raki, which guests are offered along with sweets and coffee. Usually guests bring small presents when making a visit.

Smoking is allowed except in places where “No Smoking” signs are posted, though not always enforced.

The artistic traditions of the region are present in the works of painters, stone and wood carvings, poems and the novels of famous writers. Artistic elements can also be found in the architecture throughout the city.

An interesting element of the culture and tradition is the variety of folk dresses. For example, in Dardha the woman's dress (unikla) is characterized  by black and red colors.
